Woof & Ready

New guidelines released yesterday:
(Temporary Closure from Mon 18th Jan)

DEFRA have announced more changes to the guidelines for dog grooming and each groom must fall into these welfare only categories:

- Matted dogs that need clipping short (photos to be taken to protect against potential fines from council & insurance)
- Dogs that require medicated shampoos (must be veterinary grade).
- Dogs whose nails are causing disruption to the anatomy of the foot. For this to take place dogs must have a bath also as per COVID guidelines for dog grooming. No haircut involved.
- Trimming around the eyes, bum, private areas, underpads or specific areas of matting if said areas are causing pain/discomfort. This will require a bath but will not warrant a full haircut, unless the area of matting is too large resulting in a full clip down only. No aesthetic styles.
- Dogs who need grooming for veterinary reasons. An official letter from your vet must be provided.

Currently the dogs we have booked in for this week, we understand fall into this category but please be aware the restrictions that have now been placed on us.

Unfortunately we have taken a difficult decision to temporarily CLOSE all areas (Grooming, Hydrotherapy and daycare) from Jan 18th due to these points and travel restrictions for customers and our staff (New government guidelines ‘Act like you have it’).

We understand how frustrating this is, and we are absolutely do not want to have to do this to everyone again. Even though we are ‘allowed’ to be open by the council, we can not cover the financial elements of opening with so many restrictions in place.

We believe that we will reopen from Feb 8th due to dogs that will fall into the matted category by this time.

If we do have to cancel your appointment, we will be rebooking for this time so your space is secure for when we will reopen.

As always if anyone is struggling with their dog’s coat, we are here to answer any questions and help.

From 11th January:

During such a strange and ever changing climate we would like to remind our customers about booked appointments.

If your dog has a booked appointment this week or next, it means they are classed as a welfare groom (overgrown, skin conditions, matted coats, etc) and can therefore be groomed to reduce any stress, pain or suffering on your dog.

If you decide that they do not need this appointment or are isolating please let us know as we can rearrange.

In the current climate of reduced appointments and skeleton staff, a no show for an booked appointment hits our small business hard.

There is increasing pressure growing for dog groomers to close, as the covid cases continue to rise. Therefore we may have to take the difficult decision in the near future to close for a short period of time during this lockdown once again.

If you feel your dog falls into the welfare category then please get in contact, as we can discuss appointments with you.

Thank you for everyone’s understanding, support and patience.

We will keep you updated as frequently as possible.

As an owner of a dog that looks like the pic on the left, I will definately be bringing lola on Friday, hopefully she will look like the dog on the right when I pick her up xx

We'll be seeing you tomorrow, poor Harley is starting to struggle 😞

Daisy is booked for the 16th at 11am. If needed to we can move for another couple of weeks and allow someone who is desperate. Xx

I have a weekly daycare session booked but I'm not a key worker, I had assumed we weren't welcome....was I wrong?

Thank you for contacting us about this. Woof and Ready is great 😊 🐶

In light of tonight’s announcement, we are staying open, at least for now, with the same guidelines as our previous post regarding being in Tier 4.

We have read the full government guidelines and monitored/discussed with other businesses in our industry what their interpretations are.

So, to reiterate:

Grooming can open for the welfare of your dog but not for purely aesthetic purposes. This means we are unable to book in short haired breeds for baths etc.

Hydrotherapy can open for medical swims but not fun swims.

Daycare can remain open for now but you should ideally drop off on your way to work or as part of your daily exercise.

Our current non-contact handover protocols must obviously continue and you must be wearing a face mask on arrival. You must spend the minimum possible time in reception and only one person at a time in reception.

Please adhere to your booked timeslot, if you are early or late then you may have to wait outside and, especially at this time of year, we don’t want customers having to wait out in the cold, snow or rain.

We will be monitoring any further guidelines from the government or council that may change the above, as well as monitoring if it is financially viable for all departments to remain open during this time.

We thank you all for your consideration and continued support during these difficult times.

Now the government guidelines are clearer, it turns out that our daycare facility can remain open.

Obviously, this will be subject to it being busy enough to remain open as there is potentially less need for the service.

We are going to open for now (with our contactless handover protocols in place) and monitor the situation. If any of our block booked daycare customers are not going to be attending, then please can you let us know as soon as possible.

We also ask that you continue to adhere to the handover protocols and arrive for the time at which you are booked in to prevent customers having to wait around outside.

Many thanks,
The Woof and Ready Team

TIER FOUR opening information:

We will be open from Monday 4th January, however as we have been placed in Tier 4 this means the following additional restrictions:

🐾 Grooming - Once again we are able to groom for the purpose of welfare only - this means all appointments currently booked in for the first week will remain - unfortunately all short/smooth coated breeds (pugs, bulldogs, labs etc) can not be groomed at this current time unless grooming benefits their health e.g. skin allergies, overgrown nails.
🌊 Hydro - all booked in appointments are able to continue as these are medical swims. All fun/fitness swims are still not allowed
🎾 Daycare - unfortunately due to the CFSG guidelines in tier 4, all dogs must be collected by us which is not a viable option.

Due to travelling restrictions this means customers can’t come to us either.
This means we will have to close daycare unless there are any changes to the guidelines or our Tier level.

Travelling to the salon must be done as part of your essential travel/walking.

Apologies for anyone this may affect but we will be able to answer fb messages and phone calls as often as we can.

As frustrating as it is for everyone, we must do our part to follow the guidelines whilst remaining open for the welfare of your dogs but with restrictions.

Thank you for your continued cooperation and support once again,

Thank you for the update. So pleased Theo can still do his medical therapy swims. Such a great team. Xxx

Sorry to hear about the additional restrictions and changes. We'll be back for daycare when you're able to reopen!

Hi Holly ,I’ll call you Monday Ted is booked in on 6th for grooming he’s a Cavapoo and it’s urgent as we couldn’t get him in before Christmas -I’ve had a minor panic but reading your post I think we’ll be ok 😥

Hi Holly and team. Sorry about the restrictions and the impact it will have on your lovely business. I was hoping you could dry trim Saffy, our elderly Cavalier. Is that possible? She is long and uncomfortable but I wouldn’t put her through the full wash etc unless we had to. 😞xx

Take care stay safe and keep well. Love to you all x

So sorry you have to stop daycare again Can’t wait to come back. Newton 🐾🐾❤️❤️

I’m so sorry daycare has to close xx
